Question Three

Are we living under the umbrella of a State Science Institute that's headed by the media? See this. The "give equal time to refutation of pretty-much-accepted theories" smacks of the "let the little guys produce as much steel" idea.

I noticed this quote in the article (insert semi-truck) "As a general rule, journalists should treat fringe scientific claims with considerable skepticism, and find out what major peer-reviewed papers or assessments have to say about them." In many cases today, even peer-reviewed and well respected journals have started to print fringe science. For instance, http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,139013,00.html talks about a study published in JAMA linking smog levels and elevated death rates. Reading Milloy for as long as I have, I tend to take him at his word in his columns. He states that one of the study authors used to caution against using the very study methodology used. (That's a lot of using.)

It's getting harder every day to believe anything in the media.
